5 Annoying Habits to Break in 2013

This article is inspired by this great Blog posting by Kathi Kruse from Kruse Control… 5 things you need to stop doing in 2013 

Her list of top 5 things include:

Stop showing your disdain for social media. It’s like bragging that you can’t read.

Ah yes… I still meet these dinosaurs daily …I feel like I could hold my own “walking with dinosaurs “ show.

As Kathi points out, it’s not a Fad, it’s all about the way we have always communicated… word of mouth works.

Stop ignoring your most valuable asset in content creation: your employees.

Content is where it starts, so use the expertise around you, if you don’t have employees, find guest content creators.  Stop making excuses.

Get on with it!

Great content will educate, inspire or excite people.

Stop relegating your brand’s marketing to someone you just promoted because he’s 25 and seems to enjoy Facebook.

This is a real bug bear, just because someone likes Facebook, it doesn’t equip them with great business sense or marketing skills… if you want Social to work, you need to take it seriously.

Stop avoiding social media because you think “it doesn’t sell products.”

Marketing has always been about building a strong brand, strong relationships and market awareness, not selling products. It supports sales.

Stop ignoring online ratings sites. Denial will kill you.

Over 80% of people buy something because their friends recommend it. So get and show reviews about your service and product.

I would add a 6th to the list :Ignore Video and your business will soon be out the picture. 

There are endless stats out there to support the fact that video converts leads to sales, You Tube is owned by Google, and their are a variety of topics to make a video about.
